Lebanon Academy Gives Totals for Raffle Calendar Fundraising Effort.

The Lebanon Academy found their first fund raiser quite successful.

We raised $2801, almost half of what we need to pay for the painting of the exterior rear wall and the front steps.
The Lebanon Academy Board of Directors, committee and friends would like to thank everyone who donated prizes as well as purchased calendars to raise money for the worthy cause of saving this beautiful and historic building.

Lebanon Academy Hosts Ring the Bell Fundraiser through GoFundMe

The Academy was founded in 1849 by Rev. Oren Burbank Cheney, D.D. the first principal, who later founded Bates College and the the Rev. David B. Cowell who gave the land and the first money.   It remained a substantial school of higher learning until its closing in 1942.  It now houses the Historical Society.  A few years ago the dwindling Academy Alumni Association decided they needed to find someone or group to shoulder the responsibility for the care and maintenance of the property and building.  The Alumni Association turned the property over to the Union Freewill Baptist Church.  However, the church has struggled to maintain both properties, so it decided to establish a Board of Directors that would take responsbility to set up its own account and manage the property separately.  After several meetings the board set some project priorities and raise funds to paint the exterior back wall of the building and repair and paint the belfry.  Estimates have been received and now funds need to be raised.

Lebanon Academy Selling Prize Calendars to Aid in Building Maintenance.

The Lebanon Academy is selling prize calendars that will offer a new prize for each and every day during the month of June, 2015.
The group is hoping to raise enough money to be able to paint the rear of the Academy building as well as the front steps.
Calendars cost $20 each and come with an attached coupon that you fill out with your name and information. This coupon is put in for the drawings and each day of June, 2015 someone's name is pulled and they will win the prize listed for that day.
Calendars are on sale at the Martha Sawyer Community Library (at the rear of the Hanson School), and at Kenney Automotive on the corner of Rt 202 and Little River Road, Lebanon, through May 31, 2015.
