Lebanon, Maine James R. “Butch” Milliken, Sr., age 70, of West Lebanon, Road in Lebanon, Maine, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Rochester Manor with his loving family by his side. Born February 12, 1946 in Revere, Massachusetts, the son of Kenneth A. and Alice (Browne) Milliken, he resided there for many years and lived in Lebanon, Maine since 1985. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a Crane Operator at General Electric. Butch was all about his family, he enjoyed camping with them, fishing and golfing. Survived by his wife of 49 years: Paula J. (Caporale) Milliken and their 3 children: James R. Milliken, Jr. and Marie Milliken, Brian R. Milliken and Stephanie Milliken, Natalie C. and husband Denis Couture, 8 grandchildren: Jay and Rachael Milliken, Adam, Zachary and Scotty Milliken, Adriana, Jasmine and Elizabeth Couture, 2 sisters: Judith Hill, Peggy and husband Dennis Edge, a sister in law: Kathi Milliken, also several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Kenneth Milliken. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH from 4-7 pm with a service at 6:30pm. Urn interment will be private at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation

Gordon A. Fleming, 79, of Lebanon, ME died at his home Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Gordon was born on April 15, 1936, the son of the late Albert and Reta (Braun) Fleming in Kennebunkport, ME. He graduated from North Berwick High School in 1954. In 1956, he married Lois Randall and together they raised four children and shared 54 years of marriage until her death.

Gordon proudly served his country in the Navy between the Korean and Vietnam conflicts on the U.S.S. Wisconsin. After completing his military service, he opened a barber shop in Somersworth, NH until he was called to go into the ministry. Gordon graduated from Glen Cove Bible College in Rockland, ME in 1971. After completing school, he served as the pastor of the North Lebanon 2nd Baptist Church in Lebanon, ME for 12 years. He served as the pastor of the Center Barnstead Christian Church in Center Barnstead, NH for 5 years. He also served several churches as an interim pastor. He served on the Board of Directors at Southeastern New Hampshire Christian Academy in Somersworth, NH for 15 years. Gordon also opened barbershops in Corinna, Dexter, and Lebanon, Maine.

Gordon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a softball umpire and loved to play golf. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, pastor, brother, and friend.

Gordon was predeceased by his wife Lois Fleming, his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

He is survived by his children Linda Fleming-Vaughn of Springvale, ME, Stephen Fleming and his wife, Jessica of Shapleigh, ME, Timothy Fleming and his wife Laurie of Derry, NH, and Rebekah Ross and her husband Richard of Manchester, NH. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jeffrey, Kristin, Amanda, Samuel, Grace, Kassidy, and Crystal.

The wake will be held on Monday, February 1st from 11 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the North Lebanon 2nd Baptist Church, 256 Bakers Grant Road, Lebanon, ME, and the funeral will begin at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the North Lebanon 2nd Baptist Church, 256 Bakers Grant Road, Lebanon, ME 04027.

Lebanon, Maine: Craig Alan Robinson, Sr., age 45, of Lebanon, Maine, died January 14, 2016 at home with his dog Barkley by his side. He spent his last days bringing everyone together and making them laugh. Born July 18, 1970 in Oakland, Maine to Ethel E. (Hatch) and Joseph M. Robinson, he grew up in Lebanon, Maine and went to Noble High School in Berwick, Maine. Craig loved spending time with family and friends. He meant well with everything he did. An excellent carpenter and comedian, he loved hunting and loved Dale Earnhardt and Earnhardt, Jr. He enjoyed fishing with his friend Scott Mayotte and there was never a dull moment hanging out and laughing with his best friends: Shawn and Lori Ellis. Survived by his mother Ethel Knowles, two children, the love of his life, daughter Stephanie Robinson of Lebanon, Maine and son Craig A. Robinson, Jr. and grandson Grayson of Effingham, NH, 2 sisters: Donna with husband Billy Cook of Oakland, Maine, JoAnne with husband Robert Lemire, Sr., of Waltham, Maine, also nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 3 brothers: Steven Robinson, Ronnie Robinson and Sumner Knowles,Jr., stepfather: Sumner Knowles,Sr. father: Joseph Robinson and nephew: Steven Robinson, Jr. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday January 21, 2016 at 11am at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street in Farmington, NH, with a calling hour prior to the service from 10-11am. Edna M. Wood, 94, a lifelong resident of East Lebanon, passed away in Rochester, NH, on Sunday January 10, 2016. She was born in Lebanon on January 26, 1921, a daughter of the late Elmer and Lula (Roberts) Junkins.

She was employed by Hubbard and Encore Shoe in Rochester for 40 years.

She is predeceased by her husband, Carl Wood who passed away in 1999.

She is survived by one son, Blaine Wood and his wife, Carol of East Lebanon, three grandchildren, Debra Wagner, Christine Burke, Rodney Wood and 8 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick.

Allyre T. Ouellette, 66, a resident of Lebanon, Maine, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 with his loving family by his side, following a lengthy and brave battle with emphysema.

Allyre was born September 29, 1949 to the late Dennis Ouellette and the late Mathilda (Chamberland) Ouellette. He graduated in 1970 from Wisdom High School in St Agatha, ME and later moved to New Britain, CT and met the love of his life and soul mate Darlene Godin and married July 30, 1977. They later moved to Lebanon, Maine in 1987 where he was employed by Godin Brothers & Associates as a sheet-rocker and later a maintenance mechanic for St. Elizabeth School in Rochester N.H. Allyre or "big Al" as some might call him was an avid Red Sox fan who also enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sports games as much as possible. The times he loved most were spent with his grandchildren whom he adored, whether it be camping in the backyard, playing whiffle ball or just simply hanging out together would be okay too. He also loved to be the life of the party, telling jokes and making people laugh with his funny gestures. His love of dancing with his wife would always turn heads on the dance floor with amazement.

Besides his parents, Allyre is predeceased by his brothers, Bert and his wife Emily, Marc, Robert, John-Paul, Claude and his sisters, Jackie and Linda.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Darlene (Godin) Ouellette; a daughter, Melissa (Ouellette) Jandreau and husband Jason of Lyman ME and their children Cody and Kaitlyn; a son, Todd Allyre Ouellette and children from a previous marriage Tyler, Aiden, Owen and Madison; Todd's wonderful girlfriend Mandy with her children Connor and Olivia. Also surviving are his brothers Gilman of New Britain, CT, Danny of St. Agatha, ME and Reginald and wife Beatrice of Frenchville, ME; his sisters Florence (Ouellette) Martin of Madawaska, ME and Jeannine (Ouellette) Bourgoin of Sarasota, FL; In-laws, Philip Picard of St Agatha, ME and Marie-Jeanne (Lagasse) Ouellette of Madawaska ME and nieces and nephews too numerous to list by name. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brothers Bert and his wife Emily, Marc, Robert, John-Paul, Claude and sisters Jackie and Linda.

His lifelong friends are Ronnie Dufour, Bert Cyr and Roy Chamberland who have many unforgettable memories together.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses and Frisbee Memorial Hospital who took great care of dad while he was there.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January, 7th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 8th at St. Mary’s Church, located at 71 Lowell Street in Rochester, New Hampshire. Interment will be in the spring at the St. Agatha Lower Cemetery located in St. Agatha, Maine.

Obituary: Roger E. Peters

 
 
Roger E. Peters Lebanon, Maine – Roger E. Peters, 86 of Lebanon, Maine completed his life’s journey Thursday December 31, 2015 and returned home to be re-united with his beloved daughter, Bonney Jane Peters, who predeceased him on November 2, 1968. Roger is one of 13 siblings; all of whom have completed their life’s passage into a new beginning. Roger was a conscientious and reliable worker, who started from the floor up at Davidson Rubber Company Sawyer Mill factory, and earned a management position in maintenance as a licensed electrician. Roger was well liked and respected by all; he formed a lasting bond of friendship with several of his co-workers. He assisted in resolving numerous maintenance issues at Port Hope in Canada for Davidson Rubber Company. He and his maintenance crew were responsible for completing the electrical work at the Davidson Rubber Farmington plant to get it up and running for production. Roger retired after 35 years of dedicated service. His compassion for life, love of family and commitment to family and friends will be greatly missed. Roger leaves behind his devoted wife and soul mate of 70 years, Mona M. Peters; a daughter, Lee; sons: Roger, Jr, Randy John, and Kevin Michael Peters. He is also survived by one grandson: Rodney Joseph Peters; three granddaughters: Shelly Ann, Lyndsay and Michelle; one great grandson, Evan and his great granddaughter, Alie Marie. Roger felt an everlasting bond of pride, love and joy with each child. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.

Kevin R. Struble, “Humpy” to many, age 57, of Lebanon, died December 30 at his home.

He was born in Pompton Plains, NJ on January 24, 1958, the son of Roger J. and Helen (Mertins) Struble. He grew up in New Jersey and was a graduate of Butler High Schools where he played football.

A resident of New Jersey for many years, he moved to Lebanon about 20 years ago where he owned and operated Bakers Grant Automotive Repair for several years. More recently, he had worked at Nute Elementary School in Milton, NH. With his big beard, some of the kids at his school thought he was Santa Claus.

Humpy enjoyed hosting parties and pig roasts at his home and was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends sitting around the wood stove in his garage. He also enjoyed skiing and golf. Recent health issues prevented him from enjoying these activities. He served as a volunteer firefighter, and while still a resident of New Jersey, he ran with the Pequannock Engine and Hose Company in Butler.

He was predeceased by his mother earlier in 2015 and by his wife Joyce in 2013.

Survivors include his father of Cape Coral, FL, siblings Michael Struble and his wife Ann of Parkersburg, WV, Brian Struble and his wife Ann of Princeton, WV, Kathleen Waite and her husband Rod of Butler, NJ, Sandra Beyloune and her husband Jim of Sudbury, MA, nieces and nephews Sean, Zach, Kaitlin, Kayla, Tori, Jacob, Zachary and Annmarie, several grand nieces and nephews, by many friends and neighbors, especially Brian Nicolo who looked in on Humpy regularly.

Services will be held in New Jersey at a later date.

Lebanon, Maine Rita L. Dube, age 88, of Prospect Hill Road in Lebanon, Maine, died peacefully at home, with her loving family, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2015. Born September 29, 1927 in Somersworth, New Hampshire, the daughter of Edouard and Eva (Lavertue) Plante, she grew up there and resided in Lebanon, Maine since 1945. In earlier years, she was a shoeworker at local shoe factories, including the former Rochester Shoe. She participated in Senior Bingo and loved going to Oxford Casino, to play the slot machines. Widow of the late Roger E. Dube, she is survived by their daughter Pauline and son in law Gerald Paquette, a grandson: Jeremy Paquette and his girlfriend Jolana Lowe, a granddaughter: Jenny and husband Patrick Whalen, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 10 siblings. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 2, 2016 at 10:30am at St. Peter’s Church on Central Street in Farmington, NH with Fr. Daniel J. Sinibaldi, pastor, as celebrant. If desired, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.

He was born Aug. 3, 1993 in Sanford, ME and has resided in Lebanon all of his life. He enjoyed going four wheeling, playing video games and hanging out with friends.

Obituary for Debby Clark
Debby Lee Clark (Deborah Holtby), fifty-six years old, from Lebanon, Maine, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 26, 2015. Debby slipped away peacefully, in her husband Jerrys arms, after a massive heart attack.

Debby's most precious memories were from times with family and friends at the beach. The family will have a private celebration of Debby's life and sprinkle her ashes in the ocean.

Debby was born in Anaheim, CA on May 9, 1959. She moved to Merrywood Farm in Lebanon, Maine where her love for animals blossomed. Debby was a graduate of Noble High School (1978), having a passion for helping others she went on to receive her Certification as a Nursing Assistant. Debby was a cherished and long-time employee at York Visiting Nurses which cultivated her love for the elderly. She was well-loved by her patients at Rochester Manor and Frisbee Memorial Hospital.
As a child of God, Debby's life personified the words from her favorite verse Proverbs 3:5-6; Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Debby was often seen reading her Bible and sharing her love for Jesus in AWANA, VBS and other ministries. She deeply touched others with her comforting and heart-felt prayers.

Debby enjoyed long walks and talks with Jerry in the woods surrounding their home, celebrating Jesus' birth with her family and their traditional Christmas Taco Dinner, sewing and quilting with her mother, making her infamous macaroni and cheese and Scotcharoos for family gatherings, camping with her family at Casey's, a feisty game of Canasta, reading and spending summer days at Fernald Shores with her grandchildren.

Debby is survived by her best friend and husband of thirty-three years, Jerry Clark and her parents Peter and Jane Holtby. Debby leaves behind her children Stephanie Ellis, Danielle Fuller, Miranda Glidden and Brandon Clark as well as her grandchildren Autumn Hazeltine, Mckayla Moores, Kendra Ryder, Joshua Ellis, Marissa Ellis, Laura Fuller, Ayllana Holtby, Logan Clark, Victoria Fuller, Karyssa Holtby, Cayde Clark, Sapphire Glidden, Brian Glidden, Anna Grace Fuller and Emma Clark, her brothers David and Stephen Holtby and other family and friends.

Cleveland D.Welch “Butch”, 75, of Lebanon passed away on Monday at the Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Sanford on March 23, 1940 a son of the late Roger and Muriel (Robbins) Welch. He graduated from Sanford High School in 1958.

Butch was employed by the First National Stores for nearly 20 years managing the Sanford store. He was then employed by Cummings Bros. as an on the road grocery salesman. Along with his brother Wally they started Little River Builders. Together they built nearly 200 homes in the area. They also found a niche in building pallets. The business grew and is now today Welch’s Hardware & Lumber in East Lebanon.

Butch was a life member of the Springvale Masonic Lodge #190, serving as Master in 1981. A member of the Shriners Kora Temple, he was also a member of the Pioneer Club, The Renegades, Valley of Portland Scottish Rites, Royal Order of Jesters-Put Stevens Court, #107, Riverside Grange #475, Eastern Star-Ruth Chapter #14 as well as a member of the Central New Hampshire Model T Club. He was also a life member of the Springvale Fish and Game. He was also a volunteer fireman with the town of Lebanon.

He is predeceased by one brother, Wally Welch.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Chick) Welch of Lebanon, sons, Tony Welch and his wife, Stacie of Somersworth, Dana Welch and his wife, Sue of Lebanon, Scott Welch and his wife, Lynn of Berwick, five grandchildren, Matthew Welch, Kelly Beal, Andrew Welch and his wife, Danielle, Jeremy Welch and his wife, Amanda, and Amanda Welch, six great grandchildren, Ethan Welch, Lydia Welch, Natalie Beal, Howard Welch, Lincoln Welch, Everett Welch. He is also survived by one sister, Ann Torrey of Vermont as well as many extended family members.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM a the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1PM at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.

LEBANON, Maine - Herbert C. Gerrish, Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at his home.

He was born on April 26, 1929, in Lebanon, a son of the late Theodore R. Sr., and Grace M. (Goodwin) Gerrish.

He served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952 stationed in Germany. He was employed by the Maine Department of Transportation for 50 years retiring in 1993. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Fedora, three sons, Bert, Paul, Frank, one daughter, Cathy, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

SERVICES: A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 16 at 2 p.m. at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.

Lebanon, ME – Evelyn M. Downs, 95, departed from her earthly home surrounded by family, and entered her eternal home in heaven and into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 25, 2015.

Born June 25, 1920, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Everett and Rhona (Willey) Wallingford.

Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother. Married on March 27, 1942 to Carl W. Downs she adored her family, showering them with love and quiet guidance. She was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her loving nurturing spirit included not only her family, but also touched many others who needed a place of warmth, love, and acceptance.

Evelyn was a longtime member of Union Freewill Baptist Church in West Lebanon, Maine where her faith was evident to her church family and friends.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 72 years Carl W. Downs. She is survived by her beloved dog Sam, son Paul Downs and wife Peggy of Frostproof, FL; daughter Rebecca Curtis and husband Donald of Clifton, ME; daughter Rose Davis and husband Raymond of Lebanon, ME; and her son Wayne Downs and wife Vicky of Lebanon, ME; her grandson Anthony Downs and wife Mary of Westfield, PA; also several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Saturday August 29th from 10-11 AM at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A celebration of life will follow at 11AM in the chapel officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Butland of the Union Freewill Baptist Church and Rev. R.L. Morgan from Grace Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the New Cold Spring Cemetery.

Donald J. Rodrigue, 77, of Shapleigh, passed away on Saturday August 22, 2015 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in St. Benoit, P.Q., Canada on June 14, 1938 a son of the late Eddy and Bella (Veilleux) Rodrigue.

When he moved to Sanford one of his first jobs was picking apples and this is where he met his future wife, Lorraine Hupe. They married on July 18, 1959 and started their family. Donald also worked in the Sanford Shoe Shops as well as New England Home and operated his own business Rodrigue Construction, Inc. He retired from Pratt & Whitney with over 20 years of service with the company

Donald enjoyed building houses, making furniture, spending time in the woods, making maple syrup. He especially cherished his time with his family and grandchildren. A loving father, he was also a friend and a teacher figure for his children. In his spare time he enjoyed weaving blankets, tending to grounds around his home and playing bingo at the AMVETS.

Donald is predeceased by his son, Ronald Rodrigue, brothers, Guy and Serge Rodrigue.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 56 years Lorraine Rodrigue of Shapleigh, children, Jimmy Rodrigue and his wife, Saret of Wells, Daniel Rodrigue and his wife, Beverly of Lebanon, Patricia Margolis and her husband, Mark of Shapleigh, Andrew Rodrigue and companion, Kelly Weymouth of Shapleigh, grandchildren, Kristin Berlin, Kevin Rodrigue, Chantal Margolis, Michelle Margolis, Tasha Rodrigue, four great grandchildren, brothers, Laurent Rodrigue and Real Rodrigue of Ontario, sisters, Anita Veilleux and Christine Routhier of St. Benoit. He is also survived by his extended family that he helped raised when he married Lorraine, Richard Hupe, Maurice Hupe, Sandra Bicknell, Nancy Townsend, Michael Hupe, Donald Hupe and Real Hupe who are both predeceased.

Visiting hours for Donald will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.

Obituary: Thomas Tiernan, August 9, 2015

Thomas Anthony Tiernan, 19, of Lebanon, died at his home on August 9, 2015.

Thomas was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts on July 30, 1996 to Timothy and Christine (Feeney) Tiernan. He grew up in Lebanon where he attended local schools, graduating from Noble High School in 2014. He had been attending the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. Thomas was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome when he was a young child. He worked very hard to overcome and even embrace his diagnosis. He was a strong advocate, not only for himself but for anybody challenged with disability and was always happy to speak with others to help educate them about autism.

Thomas was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Thérèse Parish. He loved movies and learning about the movie industry, especially science fiction. He had a wonderful imagination and an excellent sense of humor that touched everyon e around him. He enjoyed reading, writing and going fishing. Thomas will be remembered as a kind and loving son, brother and grandson and being a part of his life was a gift to all of his family and friends.

Surviving are his parents, Timothy Tiernan of Lebanon and Christine Tiernan of North Berwick; three siblings, James (Seamus) Tiernan, Finn Michael Tiernan, and Deirdre Agnes Tiernan, all of Lebanon; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Ann Tiernan of Chichester, New Hampshire and his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Maureen Feeney of Braintree, Massachusetts and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 13th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 14th at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.

Obituary: Robert W. Henderson Jr. Longtime Lebanon Resident, July 16, 2015

 


Robert W. Henderson, Jr.  of Lebanon passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Frisbie Hospital in Rochester, NH after a battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Henderson was born on January 2, 1947 the only child of Robert W Henderson, Sr. and Veronica (Jakob) Henderson of Yardsley, NY. The family moved to Lebanon in the early 1960s.
Mr. Henderson is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Claire (Dixon) Henderson, cousin Fred Thumbhard of New York, and his step children, Laurie Stowell of King George, VA, Robert Duncan of King George, VA, and his Grandson James Stowell of King George, Va.
Mr. Henderson taught Special Education for 15 years at the Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH and was the owner and operator of The Village Green Antiques in West Lebanon, Maine.
Mr. Henderson provided Lebanon with the space for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony that is held at the 5 corners in West Lebanon every year.
There will be a graveside funeral service at the Forest Grove Cemetery on Cemetery Road, off of  Bakers Grant Road on August 1st, 2015 at 2pm.
