"Lebanon Lady Runners", Promoting Heath, Fitness, Bonding and Positive Role Models.

Photo provided by the Lebanon Lady Runners

There's a new "kid" in town, a positive group, growing in numbers by the day, supporting women's health and fitness, upholding one another with challenges and friendship, and designed to bring women with fitness goals together as a positive part of the Lebanon community.
They're known as the Lebanon Lady Runners, bonding first on their Facebook page, and then arranging to run together, based on criteria such as ability, distance and time availability.
The group, co-founded by Lebanon residents and running enthusiasts Geneva Nice and Lori Hayden, operate a "Closed Group" Facebook page where over 100 local ladies of all abilities can encourage one another and meet up to share "girl time", increase their energy levels, strength and endurance by running.
While on the group's Facebook page, members can discuss issues such as the, best running shoes, methods for increasing distance and endurance, running related injuries, and other topics of support.
"We also run a smaller nutritional support group called "Lebanon Lady Runners Nutritional Support"." said Ms. Nice in an online interview. This site offers information and discussion topics on better nutrition and healthy eating for the "Lady Runners" and their families.
After the various meetings and runs, members of the group are encouraged to share "Runfies", which Nice describes as "Post-Run Sweaty Selfies".....as a fun way to encourage and share personal times, goals and accomplishments with one another.
"We have various groups with common goals running simultaneously as well. For example, people may be training together for certain races, half marathons, marathons, etc. We also have larger group runs to celebrate holidays or personal goal achievements," said Nice, adding that The Lebanon Lady Runners also have groups of people who are new to running as well that are encouraged on their new journey. "All skills and abilities can find a home within our group. We are a judgement free group. There is a zero tolerance policy for gossip and/or scrutiny. Members are expected to be positive role models while sharing our passion for running when representing or group."
It was also added that the idea of running in groups is SO much safer for the ladies, and allows them to run at times of day when they wouldn't usually run alone.
We thank Geneva Nice for such a friendly and informative interview and for providing a wonderful new community activity for the women of Lebanon.

FREE Sports Physicals for Children aged 12 and Up at Seacoast Orthopedics, Benefits Food Pantries.

Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (SOSMed) will offer free walk-in sports physical clinics for students ages 12 and up on Wednesday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 11th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at their main office located at 7 Marsh Brook Drive in Somersworth.
While there is no charge to obtain a pre-participation physical evaluation during the clinics, students are asked to bring non-perishable, non-expired food items to donate to the Community Action Partnership of Strafford County (CAP) food pantries.
CAP is a private nonprofit established in 1965 that helps families and individuals meet their basic needs through early childhood and parent education, job training, food and nutrition services, utility and housing assistance, homeless prevention and transportation for seniors. The agency, which provides services across Strafford County, operates food pantries inside its Dover and Farmington Outreach offices.
“We are so grateful to Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in helping stock our food pantries during what is traditionally a challenging time of year,” says Betsey Andrews Parker, CAP’s Executive Director. “Community partnerships such as this are what make a difference in the lives of those in need every day. And in the late summer, our food pantries are often low on food but still experience a very high demand so this is a great time of year to donate to our pantries.”
In addition to the two sports physical clinics, SOSMed will collect donations throughout the weeks of August 3rd-7th & 10th-14th at their Somersworth location. Employees, patients, and community members are welcome to contribute to the collection effort. At the end of the two weeks, SOSMed will match the food donation collection with a monetary donation (based on the value determined by CAP).

Lebanon Youth Soccer Director Provides Some Answers to Missing Trophies and Banquet

When one parent, who demanded answers from Brian Arsenault, leader of the severely behind the 8 ball Lebanon Youth Soccer, asking where are the trophies and when will the banquet be for all the children, about roughly 80 Lebanon children who participated in the town's 2014 Soccer Season..........
Here is the message they received back........

A few answers?? OR only a new series of side steps??

I do not think you a being rude at all. It's a very sticky situation. The guy that we got our trophies from is not and hasn't been in the area for some time. His parents were killed in a car accident out west and he went out there and had a very hard time with the situation and was institutionalized. A court case has been brought for to the man, but because he is institutionalized we have to wait for him to be released. Unfortunately that is about all u can say at this time because I/we have to respect the person who did the order for the trophies as well as the kids. I know. Unfortunately I am in a very sticky situation because I have to respect the person who took the order due to their unfortunate situation. I cannot have parents contacting the person and their business complaining because we and the lawyers both agree that it would drag things out longer.
