Local EMT Recognized for Over 20 Years of Service
Dan Meehan, a Rochester Firefighter and Fire and EMS Chief of Lebanon Maine, was recently recognized by the Board of Directors of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians for achieving over 20 years of consecutive years as a Nationally Registered EMT. This distinction is an honor held by few EMTs.
To maintain his status as a Nationally Registered EMT, Meehan completed on a biennial basis, the most comprehensive recertification program for Emergency Medical Technicians in America. He not only completed courses to refresh his fundamental knowledge and skills but also attended a minimum of two hours a month of additional continuing education to advance his knowledge on new lifesaving skills.
By maintaining his National Registered status and completing regular continuing education course, Meehan is among the few elite EMTs with the most training in pre-hospital emergency care in the nation.
Meehan was Nationally Registered as an EMT in 1993 and has been serving the communities of Rochester since 1995 and Lebanon since May 2014.
The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians serves as the national EMS certification organization by providing a valid, uniform process to assess the knowledge and skills required for competent practice by EMS professionals throughout their careers and by maintaining a registry of certification status.
