Rochester Main Street 4th Annual Blues Festival and BBQ Cookoff Slated for July 18th.

 
 
Rochester Main Street will present the 4th Annual Blues Festival on Saturday, July 18 from 10 am until 4 pm on North Main Street at the Cocheco Riverwalk. Entertainment includes Linda Pouliot, Poor Howard & Bullfrog Rogers, Deep Fried Blues, Threedom Blues Band and headliner Blues legend James Montgomery Blues Band.  Guests are asked to bring a lawn chair and enjoy some blues as there is a full line-up of entertainment for your enjoyment!

 A special BBQ cook off is being organized by Leone, McDonnell Roberts, PA that includes a Peoples Choice Award of a $100 cash prize and plaque. Judging will take place for Best BBQ Chicken, Best Pulled Pork, Best BBQ Ribs and Best BBQ Brisket. A $5 sampling badge will entitle the first 200 people to sample all of the BBQ entries, and those who are there before 1:00 will get to vote on the Peoples Choice Award. Proceeds from the Sampling will help to pay for projects in the downtown Rochester area. The Rochester Main Street volunteers will be dishing up their famous blueberry dumplings while they last!!!

 Food vendors, artwork, and assorted vendor booths will line North Main Street along with a bounce house and face painting for children. Downtown businesses are also being encouraged to participate by coming out onto the sidewalk on North Main Street. There is no admission charge (but donations are accepted) and free parking is available at the City Hall, Congress Street, Columbus Avenue, and Union Street Municipal Parking Lots, all just a short walk away from the North Main Street site. Traffic will be re-routed onto River Street and Bridge Street from 9:00 am until 5 pm the day during the event.

This is a huge event with many volunteers needed to put it all together if interested in volunteering, please call the Rochester Main Street Office at 603-330-3208. The volunteers still have booth space available, arts and craft booths, local farms, businesses and organizations who are interested in participating that day must pre-register to reserve a space. Sign up as soon as possible to maximize your exposure and to avoid the extra fees for registrations received within 30 days of the event! Event Fees go towards the cost of producing the event.
